Storm Set to Open Home, GAC Schedule

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the home portion of its schedule on Friday afternoon when it also opens Great American Conference play with the series opener against Southern Arkansas at 2 p.m. at The Ballpark in Durant.
 
The final two games will be played as a double-header on Saturday afternoon with first pitch slated for noon.
 
The Savage Storm enter the weekend series with a 1-5 record after losing three-straight in a road series against No. 8 Angelo State.
 
SE head coach Mike Metheny will also be looking to close the gap as he chases down history, needing just six more wins to become the all-time leader in victories among Division II coaches.
 
Despite the slow start, SE has been paced offensively by a pair of .300 hitters, led by Hunter Harrison who is hitting .333 with a home run, while Cade Clay is batting .313 with an RBI and three runs scored.
 
Garrin Young leads the team ion RBI with four, while Jake Perez and Jett Swigart pace the club in doubles with two each.
 
Brandon Wolski carries the team's low ERA at 1.04 over two appearances and a team-high 8.2 innings pitched with seven strikeouts while holding opponents to a .273 average. Cody Nitson has the team's win on his record.
 
The Muleriders are 3-3 to open the season, having dropped three-straight heading into the weekend series.
 
SAU is paced by Mark Fontenet who is hitting .462, while Trevor Rucker leads the team with a pair of home runs, with Cory Gallegos driving in six RBI.
 
Makenzy Larsen leads the pitching staff with a 0.00 ERA while tossing six innings over three appearances, while Dalton Algiene leads the starters with a 1-1 record and a 1.12 ERA along with 11 strikeouts.
