DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern softball will hit the 2018 season running as it hosts a 13-team tournament and will play seven games over three days at the Southeastern Regional Invitational held at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex in Durant, Okla., Feb. 2-4.

The Savage Storm open play for the weekend with Rockhurst at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 2, followed by a 2:30 p.m. matchup with Central Missouri.

Saturday opens with a noon contest against Washburn, followed by a 2:30 p.m. matchup with Missouri Southern State.
Â
The Storm close the weekend on Sunday with a triple header, playing Newman, Tarleton State and Pittsburg State at 9:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m., respectively.

The Savage Storm is coming off an 18-34 season and a 12-30 GAC performance in 2017, but returns its top two hitters as well as both All-GAC selections from a year ago.

In all the team brings back six of its eight regular position starters and two of its starting pitchers.

Symphoni Shomo and
Destiny Riddle each earned all-conference honors a season ago and pace the Storm offense.
Â
Riddle was the team's leading hitter with a .349 average with 12 doubles, four homers and 33 RBI, while Shomo hit .318 with 10 doubles and led the league in steals with 33.

Riddle also returns in the circle, as does
Emily Cudd who won 14 games a season ago in 28 starts while tossing 202.2 innings.

Southeastern also brings in four new freshman and a trio of junior transfers as it looks to plug lineup losses and build depth.
