DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern women's tennis had a tough time bouncing back from a 2-1 loss in doubles play en route to a 7-2 loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Â
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-11 overall on the season and 3-1 in Great American Conference play. It also snaps a 19 match winning streak against conference opponents that includes postseason meetings, with the last loss to a GAC foe coming on Feb. 29, 2016 in a 5-4 loss to Oklahoma Baptist.
Â
Luisa Auffarth and
Maria Martinez highlighted the Strom doubles outing, cruising to an 8-1 win at the two position.
Â
Unfortunately, SE would suffer losses at the one and three spots and trailed 2-1 heading to singles play.
Â
There it was Auffarth again who collected the team's lone win, downing Kim Moosbacher 7-5, 6-2 at the number two position to then cut the gap to 3-2.
Â
OBU would pick up wins at the other five singles positions and the Storm would fall 7-2.
Â
SE will look to rebound when it hosts Henderson State at 1 p.m. on April 12 at the Southeastern tennis Complex.
