Softball Set for GAC Tournament

UPDATED [May 3, 7:00 AM]: Game time Friday moved to 4 p.m.

DURANT, Okla. – Fourth-seeded Southeastern will open play in the 2019 Great American Conference Tournament when it faces off with rival East Central at 4 p.m. on May 3 in Bentonville, Ark., at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

The 2019 tournament will see a change as with the impending threat of bad weather, the event was shortened to a single-elimination tournament.

A win for the Savage storm on Friday would set up a 3:30 p.m. contest on Saturday afternoon versus the winner between top-seeded Southern Arkansas and No. 8 seed Ouachita Baptist. A win on Saturday would earn a berth in the Championship game on Sunday, May 5, at 12:30 p.m.

SE finished the regular season 27-27 overall and 25-19 in GAC play, including a 2-2 split in the season series against the Tigers.

Symphoni Shomo paces the offense with a .355 record and has been lighting on the base paths over the final stretch, lifting her league-best stolen bases total to 41.

She is just in front of Elexis Watson's .353 mark, while Watson is leading the team in doubles with 17, home runs with 11, and RBI with 36.
