DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern baseball is set to open the 2020 season when it hosts Northwest Missouri State for a four-game series beginning Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at Mike Metheny Field.

Games two and three are slated for Feb. 1 with a double-header beginning at noon, while the series finale is set for Feb. 2 at noon. All games will be at Mike Metheny Field.

Zach Crabtree enters his third season and returns four position starters, led by top-returning hitter
Davis Jenks who posted a .307 average with a .416 on-base percentage while posting eight doubles, three triples, and three home run. He drove in 22 runs and scored 18.

Logan Teske is the team's top returning pitcher after making a team-high 19 appearances with three starts while posting a 2-2 record with a 4.01 ERA and 33 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .237 average.

In all, nine pitchers who saw action a season ago will return to the 2020 roster.

Southeastern will also welcome 17 newcomers to the roster as it looks to replace four position starters and three starting pitchers.

The Bearcats also enter the season occupying the eighth spot in the Preseason MIAA poll.

Senior first baseman Connor Quick returns to the diamond after notching the fifth-best batting average in the conference a year ago (.371). Quick also recorded top-10 marks in slugging percentage (.577), on-base percentage (.447), hits (72), RBIs (49) and triples (4). Quick's performance earned him All-MIAA honors.

On the bump, senior Quintin Van Ackeren leads the charge for Northwest. Van Ackeren accumulated a team-high 59 strikeouts in 81.1 innings pitched in 2019. Van Ackeren got the start in 15 contests and tallied a team-best 5.09 ERA.
