DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern baseball will throw out the first pitch of the 2021 baseball season on Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. when it opens a three-game non-conference series with rival East Central at Mike Metheny Field.

Games two and three of the series are slated for a Saturday double-header beginning at 11 a.m.

The general public will not be permitted at this time and anyone admitted to the contests will have to be one of the four guests allowed for participating student-athletes and non-student coaching staff may invite up to four guests to attend home contests.

Guests on the pass list will be required to show an ID as well as wear a mask and practice social distancing while in attendance.
Â
Only home fans on the approved list will be permitted, while policies at other institutions may vary.
Â
All seating will be arranged to adhere to current local and state social distance protocols. No tickets will be available to visiting teams.

For fans who are not in a position to attend, the matches can be can be followed live on the Southeastern Sports Network online with Bob Sullins from Mix 96.1.

The Savage Storm finished the Covid-shortened 2020 season with a 12-11 record that included a big 19-6 win over the Tigers in a non-conference game.

Despite losing two-of-three in a series to ECU in 2019, the Savage Storm have been dominant in the series over the last decade with a 23-10 record since the 2011 season that included winning streaks of six and seven games.

SE baseball enters the 2021 season picked to finish ninth in the Great American Conference according to the league's preseason poll.

East Central was picked 11
th in the poll.

The Storm returns its top hitter from a season ago in
Colton Buckner who hit .385 with four homers and 18 RBI in 23 games, as well as
Richard Ware,
Slayde Ortiz,
Davis Jenks,
Grant Bruce, and
Dylan Herd who all started more than half the team's games in 2020.

The team also returns its top two starters from a season ago in
Jacob Potter who was 3-2 with a 2.70 ERA and Jenks who had a pair of wins with a 4.39 ERA. They are joined by
KC Bryan who recorded three saves.
