DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern softball is set to open the 2021 season on Feb. 6 when it travels to Denton, Texas, to take on Texas Woman's in a double-header starting at 1 p.m.

The Savage Storm picked up 79 points in the poll, finishing behind Harding in fourth, and just ahead of Oklahoma Baptist in sixth.

SE is coming off the CoVid-shortened 2020 season with a 15-9 record overall and a 7-5 mark in GAC play.

The team returns its top hitter from a season ago in
Kady Fryrear who hit .424 with four homers and 19 RBI, and she is joined by
Gracie Ore who hit .389.

The Storm is looking to replace
Symphoni Shomo and
Kennedy Salyers in the field, as well as
Katie McCullar in the circle.

SE does return pitchers
Amberlyn Walsworth who was 5-2 with a 3.69 ERA and
Ashley Hedrick who picked up a pair of wins and struck out 27 in 15 appearances.

TWU heads into the 2021 season picked to finish 13
th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll after posting a 6-16 record in the shortened 2020 season.

The pioneers return four players who started all 22 games last season, with that group led by Paige Tamayo who paced the club a year ago on offense with a .422 average that included six homers and 22 RBI.

Conversely, TWU returns none of the five pitchers who saw action last season and will turn to a trio of freshmen newcomers.
