DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern softball will open the home portion of its schedule on March 9 when it hosts rival East Central for a 1 p.m. double-header at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The Savage Storm come into the contest with a 4-1 record after having nearly all of its February schedule canceled or postponed due to weather or Covid.

SE did pick up a 2-1 series victory in its Great American Conference opener at Southern Nazarene and will come into Tuesday's conference matchup with ECU at 2-1 in league play.

The Savage Storm offense is paced by
Cheyenne Mahy who is hitting .500, while
Kady Fryrear is right behind with a .474 average and
Kyia Monahwee is hitting .471.

Four other SE starters are hitting .333 or better, while Fryrear, Monahwee,
Jaleigh Durst, and
Kamarie Wallace each have four RBI.

Storm pitching carries a 3.82 ERA on the season with
Amberlyn Walsworth and Mahy each recording a pair of wins, while Walsworth's 10 strikeouts leads the way.

The Tigers come to town with a 7-5 record on the season and a 3-3 mark in GAC play and are led offensively by Rachelle Mengwasser who is hitting .343, while Megan Lesko is next up at .342.

Mengwasser has a team-best 11 RBI and a pair of homers.

Lauren HerrNeckar leads the team in the circle with a 5-1 record with a 2.10 ERA and 43 strikeouts while tossing 33.1 innings over seven appearances with four starts.
