Softball Set for Road Series at SWOSU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will head west looking to maintain its hold on the top spot in the Great American Conference standings when it squares off with Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game series in Weatherford, Okla., with game one slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch on April 9, followed by an 11 a.m. doubleheader on April 10.
 
The Savage Storm roll into the weekend on a four-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight to improve to 25-4 on the season overall and 15-3 in GAC play.
 
SE is hitting .308 as a team on the season, led by a group of six hitters posting .300 or better averages.
 
That group is paced by Peyton Streetman who is hitting .429 with two doubles, a home run and 16 RBI.
 
Kady Fryrear is next in line with a .385 average with seven doubles, a triple, five home runs and a team-leading 23 RBI.
 
Cheyenne Mahy leads the team in home runs with six, while Kyia Monahwee had five.
 
Monahwee is the second Storm player to reach the 20-RBI mark, posting 20 on the dot, while five others have double-digit runs batted in totals.
 
In the circle, Amberlyn Walsworth leads the way with a 12-1 record and a 2.15 ERA with 94 strikeouts and 12 walks over 107.1 innings pitched.
 
Mahy is right on her heels with an 11-2 record with a 2.33 ERA and has struck out 39 and walked nine in 63.0 innings of work.
 
SE has posted a 29-6 record against the Bulldogs since the formation of the GAC, and is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings which included taking three-of-four in Durant a season ago.
 
SWOSU comes into the series with an 8-15 record on the season and an 8-10 mark in league play.
 
The Bulldogs feature six starters batting over .300, led by Breanna Simmons at .388 while carrying a team-best eight doubles and 22 RBI.
 
Hannah Franklin leads the team in homers with seven homers while hitting .368.
 
SWOSU is led in the circle by Miranda Grover who has a 4-8 record on the year with a 4.18 ERA and 20 strikeouts.
