ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern had six competitors win or split event titles over the weekend as the Savage Storm put together a pair of shining performances with the men finishing second as a team and the women posted a third-place showing at the NWOSU Rodeo in Alva, Okla.

Southeastern's men's team sent 10 competitors to the finals with five of them taking home the top marks in the average, helping lift the men's squad to a second-place regional standing after four events.

The women's squad sent seven to the finals with one event champions and one event runner up which helped them to a third-place finish which also moved them to third place in the regional standings through four events.

Rodney Jackson put together one of the fastest efforts of the weekend, picking up a win in the tie down roping that saw him open the event with a 9.7 in the first round which was good for second place. He posted the fastest time of the weekend on his finals run at 8.9 which won the round and gave him the tie down roping title.

SE sent four competitors to the finals in the bareback riding, led by
Luke Thrash who opened the weekend with a 79 point ride which ranked second in the long go. He followed up with a 77 in the finals which ranked third in the round but his two rides together placed first in the average.

He was followed by
Josh Green who split second/third with a 75 point ride in the opening round which finished sixth before splitting second/third in the final round to climb to his final position.
Tyler Griffin checked in with rides of 76 and 76 which helped him to a fifth-place finish in the average while Montana Duval carded rides of 74 and 69 to finish sixth overall.

Tyler Pruitt would advance in the saddle bronc riding after posting a ride of 74 to finish second in the first round before adding a 75 in the finals which split first/second in the round and took the top spot in the average.

Caden Bunch would split the top spot in the opening round of the bull riding with an 84-point ride and with no riders hanging on for the eight second buzzer in the finals, he would finish with a first/second split in the average.

Garrett Elmore would partner with Rowdy Jones from Western Oklahoma State in the team roping and put together a 6.4 mark in the first round before winning the finals with a run of 4.5 which lifted them to the top spot in the average as well.

The Storm would also send two to the finals in the steer wrestling, led by
Tyler Ravenscroft who won the opening round with a time of 4.1 but took a no time in the finals to finish seventh overall. He was joined in the finals by
Rowdy Nimrod who turned in a 4.9 in the opening round to finish seventh but also took a no time in the finals, finishing 11
th overall.

On the women's side,
Katelyn Hobbie turned in the team's only event title after posting a third-place run of 13.32 to open the barrel racing competition and following it up with the fastest run of the weekend at 12.93 to win the finals and take the average title.

The Storm sent four to the finals in the goat tying, led by
Kayla Earnhardt who finished second with a 6.0 run in the first round and followed it up with a 7.2 in the finals to move to second overall in the average.

Hannah Giger joined her in the finals and posted runs of 6.9 and 7,1 which was good for a seventh-place mark in the average, followed by
Grace Collins who posted times of 7.0 and 7.4 to finish eighth and
Mataya Eklund who rounded out the group with runs of 7.1 and 7.8 which was good for 120
th in the average.

Eklund and Earnhardt would both also advance to the finals in the breakaway roping, with Eklund finishing fourth in the first round on a run of 2.7 before taking a no time in the finals and dropping to eighth in the average. Earnhardt was right behind with a 2.8 to split sixth place but was also tagged with a no time in the finals and finished ninth overall.

The event closes out the fall portion of the Southeastern rodeo schedule which will resume in February of 2023.
