HAYS, Kan. – Southeastern's men's team took home the top spot, winning four event titles, while the women turned in a seventh-place finish in the second-to-last regular season rodeo hosted by Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan.

The win puts the Storm men within striking distance of the top spot in the region, trailing Fort Scott CC by just over 100 points heading into the final weekend, while holding a better than 800-point lead over third.

The women's team is hanging onto second place as well in the Central Plains region rankings with one event to go.

Tyler Griffin picked up a win in the bareback riding, taking the top spot in the first round with a ride of 81 before finishing second in the finals on a 77, but hanging on to the top spot in the average.

Guage McBride finished second in the event with a 79 on his first ride and a 75 in the finals, splitting third and remaining in second in the average.

Cole Kerner joined them in the finals after finishing sixth in the first round on a ride of 58 before adding a fifth-place finish in the finals with a 72 and finishing sixth in the average.

McBride moves into fourth in the region in the bareback, 65 points out of third, while Griffin is in fifth and Kerner is eighth.

Rowdy Nimrod took home the top spot tin the tie down roping, moving to the finals on an 11.5 before clocking the fastest run in the final round of 96 to win the finals and move to first in the average.

Nimrod is currently 10
th in the region in the event, while
Blake Carter leads the Central Plains in the tie down and
Lucas Peterson is fifth.

Justin Ochs took home the top spot as the heeler in the team roping with partner Treydon Larmon from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

The duo posted a 7.7 to finish fourth in the first round but came back with a 6.7 in the finals to finish second and move to the top spot in the average.

Ochs and Larmon are the top-ranked team roping duo in the central plains region.

Waylon Buquoi rounded out he team's event winners, taking the top spot in the bull riding after posting a 51 on his first ride and coasting on that through to the average title.

Peterson advanced to the finals in the steer wrestling after splitting second on a first-round ride of 4.7. In the finals he was fifth on a run of 5.5, moving him to second in the average.

Emma Ricke led the Storm women as three advanced to the finals in the barrel racing.
Â
Ricke paced the group with a 17.97 on the first run before following it up with a 17.68 in the finals, moving to fourth in the average.
Â
Ricke leads the event in the central plains region with a 20 point lead over second place.
Â
She also remains in the mix in the breakaway where she is third in the region, while Jillian Pressley and Laure Weller are fourth and fifth regionally in the goat tying.
