Baseball Set for Return Trip to NSU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern sets out looking to extend its three-game winning streak as it heads to Tahlequah, Okla., for its first actual away game of the season when it takes on Northeastern State at 2 p.m. on Feb. 15.

The Savage Storm have opened the year 7-1, including a home victory over NSU a week ago at Mike Metheny Field.

SE was originally scheduled to open the season with a three-game non-conference series in Ada, Okla., but weather forced changes with the games against East Central moving to Melissa, Texas, on Sunday followed by a single game in Durant on Monday, making Tuesday's trip to Tahlequah the first game at an opponent's home field this season.

The first meeting between the two was a back-and-forth affair, with the Storm exploding for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn the 8-6 victory.

Cameron French was 3-for-4 in that game with three RBI, while Richard Ware and Joseph Ramirez each drove in two.

French continues to pace the Storm overall with a .500 average that includes a pair of doubles, a triple, and two home runs with 20 RBI.

Reid Rice has a trio of homers with 10 RBI, while Ware leads the team in both categories with four home runs and 13 RBI.

Logan Teske leads the pitching staff with a 1-0 record in two starts with a 0.00 ERA over 8.0 innings pitched with six strikeouts.

Cole Canuteson's nine strikeouts over 7.1 innings of work leads SE, while Kenneth Klier has recorded a pair of saves by allowing one hit and striking out five across four appearances.

NSU heads into Tuesday's matchup with a 5-2 record after a four-game sweep of Southern Nazarene over the weekend.

The Riverhawks are led by C.D. White who is hitting .469 on the year, while Brock Reller leads the team in home runs with three and RBI with 12.

Seth Key leads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record across two starts with a 0.90 ERA and six strikeouts, while Jake Bigham has recorded a pair of saves in two appearances.
