FT. SCOTT, Kan. –
McKade Wickett posted a third place finish in the tie down roping at the Ft. Scott CC Rodeo and solidified his place atop the region standings in the all-around, while
Martie Shockley's second place finish in the goat tying would pace the women over the weekend.

The Savage Storm men remain in first place in the Central Plains region as a team, while the women slipped slightly to fourth.

Wickett opened his tie down event with a run of 9.8 which split 2
nd/3
rd, and followed that up with an 11.6 in the finals to finish fourth in the round and third in the average for the event.
Â
That finish helped him into second place in the tie down roping regionally, in addition to leading the all-around, while
Garrett Elmore remains in third regionally in the event with
Gus Franzen ranked eighth.

Shockley paced a pair of finals qualifiers in the goat tying as she opened the event with a run of 8.7 to finish 10
th in the round, while teammate
Hannah Giger split 7
th/8
th/9
th with a run of 8.6.
Â
Shockley would trim her time in the finals down to an 8.3 which was good for second in the round and the average, while Giger turned in a 10.4 in the short-go to finish fourth in the round and fourth in the average.
Â
Shockley comes out of the weekend ranked third in the region, while Giger is 13
th, with
Cara Hilzendeger sitting sixth and
Bailey Witt ranked ninth.

Back on the men's side, SE saw two competitors advance to the finals in the steer wrestling, with Colten Swearingen opening his weekend with a 6.1 run to finish seventh in the long-go, while
Mason Couch was right on his heels with a time of 6.2 to finish eighth.

Couch would bounce back with the faster time in the short-go, posting a 5.6 which ranked second in the finals, while Swearingen tallied a 5.7 which was third in the round, with the teammates splitting 4
th/5
th in the average for the weekend.

Craig Parks holds onto second place in the regional standings, with Couch sitting third followed by Franzen in sixth and
Garrett Elmore in 14
th.

The women had one more finals appearance with
Mataya Eklund turning in a 12.89 run in the long-go of the barrel racing to finish sixth in the round. She would trim her time in the finals down to a 12.69 which was good for second place and lifted her to a third place finish in the average.

Eklund is currently seventh in the regional standings.

For the men,
Luke Thrash reached the finals in the bareback riding, posting a 78 on his first ride to win the round but took a no score in the finals.
Â
Tyler Griffen, whose 65 point ride was one spot shy of reaching the finals, is currently leading the region while Thrash ranks fifth.
Â
Tyler Pruitt rounded out the finals qualifiers, advancing in the saddle bronc event with a 64 splitting 8
th/9
th, but did not cover in the final, ending the weekend splitting 8
th/9
th, and moving to 10
th in the region.

For the men, Wickett, despite not making a final over the weekend, remains the fifth-ranked header in the region in the team roping, while
Hayden Harris ranks sixth in the Central Plains in the bull riding.

For the women, Eklund also ranks sixth regionally in the breakaway while Giger sits 12
th.
