Softball Hosts SAU in Key GAC Battle

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will be aiming to better its position in the conference standings when it hosts current leader Southern Arkansas in a three-game series March 25-26 at the Southeastern Softball Field. The series is scheduled to open with a 3 p.m. single game on Friday, followed by a noon doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Savage Storm come into the matchup with an 18-15 record on the season overall and a 9-5 mark in Great American Conference play, which is tied for third, but trails first place by just two games.
 
SE returns home for the first time since March 5, posting a 6-4 record in its 10-game road swing.
 
The Storm features a trio of .300 hitters, led by Peyton Streetman's .366 average with 28 runs scored, while Alexis Lambert is hitting .350 with Cheyenne Mahy right behind at .347.
 
Kamarie Wallace leads the team in home runs and RBI with four and 25, respectively.
 
In the circle, Amberlyn Walsworth and Mahy each have nine wins and two saves, while Walsworth carries a 4.63 ERA and Mahy is allowing a 5.05 ERA.
 
Walsworth also leads the way in strikeouts with 110, while Mahy has fanned 75.
 
The Muleriders come to town with an 18-11 record on the season and an 11-3 mark in GAC play, winners of six straight.
 
Jade Miller leads the team with a .402 average along with nine home runs and 22 RBI.
 
In the circle, Sydney Ward leads the team with nine wins and 68 strikeouts, while Kiana Pogroszewski has a team-best 1.35 ERA with six wins and 62 strikeouts.
