Rice Highlights Nine GAC Honors by SE Baseball

DURANT, Okla. – Reid Rice's first team selection highlight's a total of nine athletic and academic honors collected by Southeastern baseball as the Great American Conference announced its yearly award on Friday.
 
Rice as named the first team selection as a utility player, while Matt Miles earned second team honors in the outfield. Cole Canuteson and Blake McQuain each earned honorable mention honors, while Dylan Herd was named the shortstop on the league's All-Defensive team.
 
In addition, Jordan Compton, Jacob Potter, Conner Priest, and Jackson Sioson each picked up GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete recognition.
 
Rice, a native of Keller, Texas, hit .341 on the season and leads the Storm in home runs with 18 and RBI with 52. On the season he has tallied 59 hits with eight doubles and a triple. He is third in the conference in homers and ranks in the top 10 in the league in both slugging percentage and RBI.
 
Miles, a native of Waco, Texas, is currently second on the team in average with a .342 mark with 39 hits, including seven doubles, a triple, and six home runs.  He has also driven in 22 runs and scored 41 of his own and he currently ranks in the top 10 in the league in on base percentage, carrying a .483 mark.
 
Canuteson, a native of Denton, Texas, has paced the SE pitching staff with a 6-1 record across 13 appearances and 10 starts with three complete games and one shutout. He carries a 5.24 ERA and over 55 innings pitched has allowed opponents to hit .235 while striking out 71.
 
McQuain, a native of Shawnee, Okla., carries a .374 average with 40 hits that include 10 doubles and five home runs.  He has driven in 25 runs and scored 26 while carrying a .465 on base percentage. He finished the regular season ranked 10th in average and 12th in on base percentage in the conference.
 
Herd, a native of Hurst, Texas, leads the GAC in assists with 123 and is fourth in fielding double plays with 27. Offensively, leads the GAC in sac bunts with 16 and nine doubles and 18 RBI on the year.
 
Compton, a native of Midwest City, Okla., is 2-0 on the hill with 20 appearances and six starts with a 6.75 ERA across 41.1 innings pitched. He has struck out 25 on the year and is holding opponents to a .258 average.
 
Potter, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, is 2-2 with a save on the year across 13 appearances with seven starts, tossing 41.1 innings over that span. He has struck out 36 hitters.
 
Priest, a native of Ada, Okla., is 5-3 on the season with a 5.48 ERA across 15 appearances with nine starts. He has tossed 46.0 innings with opponents hitting .262 off him while striking out 49 hitters.
 
Sioson, a native of Georgetown, Texas, leads the team in saves with eight while putting together a 2-2 record. He has made 22 appearances, all in relief, tossing 26.0 innings with 21 strikeouts while opposing hitters have batted just .272.
