Marilyn Alvarado and
Kady Fryrear each homered as Southeaster jumped ahead early but was unable to hold on in an 8-6 loss to Harding in the quarterfinals of the Great American Conference Tournament in Bentonville, Ark., on Saturday night.

The loss brings the Savage Storm season to an end with a 30-25 record.

Alvarado and
Peyton Streetman each collected a pair of hits, while
Alexis Lambert,
Cheyenne Mahy,
Kamarie Wallace, Fryrear,
Gracie Ore, and
Bailey Beard each logged a hit.

Alvarado accounted for a pair of RBI, while Mahy, Wallace, Fryrear, and Ore each drove in one.

Mahy would get the start and was saddled with the loss after tossing 1.2 innings and allowing seven runs, six earned, on five hits.

Amberlyn Walsworth came on in relief and allowed a run on four hits in 4.1 innings with four strikeouts.

SE got on the board first as Mahy singled home Streetman in the top of the first inning.

That was followed a batter later by a two-run Alvarado homer to left and two batters after that Fryrear would tack on a solo shot for a 4-0 lead after one half inning.

HU would answer with an RBI single and a two-run homer in the bottom half of the first to make the score 4-3.

An inning later the Bisons would take the lead with a grand slam and a solo homer to go in front 8-4.

Wallace would double home Alvarado in the top of the third to cut into the deficit, and Ore followed with an RBI single to close the gap to 8-6, but that was as close as the Storm would get as that would remain the final score.
