Storm Welcomes #2 SAU for GAC Opener

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will host its second-straight weekend series, this time opening up Great American Conference play by welcoming No. 2 Southern Arkansas to Mike Metheny Field with game one set for 2 p.m. on Feb. 17, followed by a double-header on Feb. 18 beginning at noon.
 
The Savage Storm enter the weekend with a 5-3 record overall after taking three out of four in a series against Colorado Christian and picking up a dominating midweek win over Northeastern State.
 
Cameron French leads the SE offense which features a pair of .400 hitters and three others batting better than .300.
 
French is hitting .440 on the year with two doubles and six RBI, while Jake Miller, the reigning GAC Player of the Week, has racked up a .421 average with three home runs and eight RBI.
 
Cory Bontstrom is hitting .391 with a homer and five RBI, followed by Cameron Cromer at .371 and Joseph Ramirez at .350.
 
Damon Burroughs just missed the .300 mark at .292 but has a home run and a team-best 10 RBI.
 
Cole Canuteson paces the Storm starters with a 0.82 ERA and a 2-0 record across two starts with 17 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched.
 
Connor Priest is right behind with a 1.04 ERA across two starts despite not picking up a win, while Dylan Turner evened his record at 1-1 last weekend and carries a 2.19 ERA.
 
The Southeastern pitching staff has compiled a 2.89 ERA as a staff and is holding opponents to a .207 batting average.
 
SAU comes into the weekend at 5-1 overall on the year after winning a pair of high-scoring games last weekend.
 
The Muleriders offense is led by Riley Orr who is hitting .600 on the season while Brandon Nicoll is at .409 with a team-best eight RBI.
 
The SAU pitching staff carries a 2.02 ERA combined, led by Mikel Howell who has a 0.90 ERA and a 2-0 record in two starts, while Jeremy Adorno is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in two starts.
