Baseball Set to Open Home Schedule vs. CCU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the home portion of its 2023 season when it welcomes Colorado Christian to Mike Metheny Field for a four-game home stand Feb. 10-12, with the home opener slated for 2 p.m. on Feb. 10.
 
Games two and three are set for a Saturday double-header which starts at noon, while the series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
The Savage Storm come into the second weekend of the season with a 1-2 record after opening the season with a win over Northeastern State before dropping back-to-back contests to close the weekend.
 
Cole Canuteson put together a Great American Conference Player of the Week earning performance in the SE win, fanning nine over 5.0 innings of shutout work while scattering two hits.
 
Offensively, Cameron Cromer posted a team-leading .467 average with seven hits over the weekend and an RBI.
 
Joseph Ramirez hit .333 over three appearances, while Damon Burroughs drove in a team-leading four RBI.
 
CCU comes into the weekend with a 1-0-1 record on the year, picking up a 7-6 win over a ranked Nova Southeastern team, while playing to a 20-20 tie versus Lynn University.
 
Following that run-filled opening weekend, the Cougars have six players who are hitting .300 or better, led by Kade Carney who is hitting .625 with five RBI, while Gabe Ramos has added five RBI as well.
 
Robby Caro leads the starting pitchers for CCU, posting a 6.00 ERA over 3.0 innings in his start, while Cole Kennedy collected the team's lone pitching victory with 3.0 innings of relief work and a 9.00 ERA.
