SE Baseball Set to Host Battle of the Storms

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern returns home looking to make a move in the Great American conference standings as the season enters the home stretch with a three-game series against Southern Nazarene, opening on April 7 with a 2 p.m. matchup at Mike Metheny Field before rounding out the weekend with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
 
The Savage Storm come into the weekend with a 17-18 record overall but made up ground in the conference standings with a sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend which moved them to 9-12 in league play.
 
SE is hitting .312 as a team, led by Damon Burroughs who is batting .440 on the season with six doubles, seven triples, four homers, and 40 RBI.
 
Reid Rice, Seth Morrow, Sam Creed, Joseph Ramirez, and Cory Bonstrom are all hitting better than .320 on the year as well.
 
Rice leads the team with six home runs, while Rice and Morrow are tied with a team-best 10 doubles.
 
Cole Canuteson continues to pace the weekend starters with a 4-1 record and a 5.20 ERA with 43 strikeouts.
 
Dylan Turner carries a 6.46 ERA, while Michael Barta has stepped into the starter role with some success, posting a 4-1 record on the year and is coming off an 8.0 inning outing in which he allowed just one run.
 
SNU enters the weekend with a 14-21 record on the season overall and a 6-15 mark in league play and has dropped five-straight and nine of their last 10.
 
DJ Van Atten paces the Crimson Storm with a .473 average that includes 18 doubles, 17 home runs and 58 RBI.
 
On the hill, Casey Minchey leads the way with a 2-2 record and an 8.86 ERA with 39 strikeouts.
