SE Set to Open Regional Action on May 11

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern is looking to keep its postseason run alive when it opens play at the NCAA Central Region Tournament versus top-seeded No. 4 Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. on May 11 in Edmond, Okla.

The Savage Storm earned the No. 8 seed and are coming off a Great American conference Tournament Championship and enter the postseason with a 33-25 record on the year.

SE is making a return to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2014 when it won the regional in Mankato, Minn., before beating Augustana in the Super Regional and advancing to the program's only appearance in the NCAA Division II National Finals.

Overall, Southeastern has reached the NCAA Tournament nine times dating back to its first trip in 1999.

The Storm is led on the year by Sabetha Sands who is hitting .338 with 15 doubles, a triple, a home run and 19 RBI.

Cheyenne Mahy is next in line hitting .315 with a team-high six homers and 26 RBI.

Gracie Ore and Kady Fryrear are each hitting over .300, with Fryrear and Iliana Olivares posting more than 20 RBI apiece.

Reese Taylor has led the SE pitching staff with a 2.54 ERA on the season with a 12-9 record and 94 strikeouts.

Amberlyn Walsworth is the team leader in wins and strikeouts with a 14-11 record and 150 strikeouts on the season to go with her 3.03 ERA.

Mahy rounds out the staff with a 2.75 ERA and a 7-4 record with 42 strikeouts while tossing the team's only no hitter of the season.

UCO enters the postseason with a 47-6 record and are led offensively by Shayla Harper who is hitting .411 with 14 home runs and 53 RBI.

The Broncho pitching staff is paced by Terin Ritz who is 21-1 on the year with a 2.07 ERA and 93 strikeouts.

A win in Thursday's opener would have the Storm playing the winner between Harding and Oklahoma Baptist in a 1 p.m. game on May 12, while a loss would have them facing the loser of that contest at 3:30 p.m.
