ANDOVER, Kan. – At the end of the first round at the Newman Invitational, the Southeastern Oklahoma State men's golf team is seventh with a score of 20-over 304.
The tournament host, Newman, leads the field of play at the end of day one with the only par or better score after seeing a 1-under 283 first round. Two shots separate second-place Northeastern State (+7) and third-place Fort Hays State (+9), while Northwestern Oklahoma State and Dodge City CC round out the top five at 12-over 296 and 13-over 297, respectively.
Trent Pollard paced the SE lineup on day one, shooting 3-over 74 to sit tied for 16
th individually. Just behind,
Jesse Rouse carded a 5-over 76 and is tied for 23
rd with a team-high five birdies.
Nicholas Martin turned in a 6-over 77 round with three birdies and is tied for 28
th with teammate
Christian Vining, who also had three birdies in his first round of action part of the SE five-bag.
Rounding out the lineup,
Bo Gentry turned in an 8-over 79 in the first round and is tied for 39
th after 18 holes. SE is back in action again tomorrow morning for the final round of play at the Newman Invitational from the Par 71 course.
