ANDOVER, Kan. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State men's golf team finishes the Newman Invitational seventh with a score of 60-over 628. In the second round, SE shot 40-over 324.
Fort Hays State claimed first place at the invitational with a 36-hole score of 27-over 595, just beating out second place Newman, who shot 28-over 596. Northeastern State turned a 30-over 598 for third place, while Pittsburg State (4
th) and Doge City CC (5
th) shot 37-over 605 and 38-over 606, respectively.
Jesse Rouse recorded the best second-round score for the SE lineup, shooting 7-over 78, and would finish the tournament 21
st individually with a score of 12-over 154.
Nicholas Martin joined Rouse in the Top 25 on the player leaderboard, tied for 23
rd with a 36-hole score of 14-over 156 after turning in an 8-over 79 in round two.
Trent Pollard and
Christian Vining finished tied for 31st at 17-over 159. Pollard shot 11-over 82 in the second round, while Vining wrapped up his first tournament with the Storm, shooting 9-over 80 on the final day.
Bo Gentry rounded out the Southeastern five-bag in 45
th place with a score of 23-over 165 after turning in an 18-over 89 for the day.
The Savage Storm will head to the Tulsa Cup next for its final tournament of the fall portion of its season on Oct. 28-29 at the Forest Ridge Country Club in Broken Bow, Okla.
