Lewis Named Defensive Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Patience Lewis is named the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping Southeastern Oklahoma State to a 1-1 week. Lewis joins teammate D'Nari Mills as two players for SE to earn Player of the Week honors.  
 
The Pearland, Texas native racked 61 digs across eight sets last week, averaging 7.63 per set while providing 12 assists and three service aces. Lewis also held a 1.000 reception percentage on 44 total attempts.
 
In the first match of the week, the junior tallied 30 digs in the 3-1 win over Southern Nazarene at home and dished out seven assists along the way. Against Southwestern Oklahoma State, Lewis recorded 31 digs for her third 30-dig contest in four matches and added five assists and a service ace to her totals.
 
Lewis ranks third in the GAC with 5.05 digs per set and has totaled the fourth most digs this season with 283. Earlier this season, the Glenda Dawson High School product tallied a career-high 42 digs in a 3-2 victory over Oklahoma Baptist, which is the second most digs recorded in a match by an SE player all-time.
 
Southeastern is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m., as they head to Sherman, Texas, to take on Austin College.
