Baseball Set to Open GAC Play Versus SAU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern is set to open Great American Conference play on Feb. 17-18 when it travels to Magnolia, Ark., to square off with No. 8 Southern Arkansas, beginning with a single game on Saturday at 3 p.m. followed by a Sunday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
 
The Savage Storm come into the weekend with a 6-2 record after posting a pair of weekend sweeps, but falling in a pair of close midweek matchups.
 
Nick Hill paces the Storm offense with a .545 average that includes two doubles, two homers and matches the team lead in RBI with 10.
 
Damon Burroughs, Reid Rice, and Coby Grimsley are each hitting .333 or better.
 
Rice is joined by Wesley Mitchell with a team-best three home runs, while the Storm as a team have out-homered its opponents 18-3 over eight games.
 
Mitchell also matches Hill for the team-high in RBI with 10.
 
Cameron Hauch leads the Storm pitching staff with a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA across 12.0 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts while opponents are hitting .077 against him.
 
Dylan Turner has a win in two starts with a 2.00 ERA and has logged five strikeouts.
 
Coby Langford and Charlie Deeds have each logged three or more appearances and carry an ERA below 2.00, while Brody Logsdon has made six relief appearances, putting together a 1-0 record with a save while maintaining a 2.84 ERA with three strikeouts.
 
SAU enters the weekend with a 5-2 record on the year, including winning their last two outings.
 
Chris Sutton leads the team with a .480 average, while Chris Lyles is next in line with a .450 mark.
 
Josh Phillips has a team-best two home runs, while Will Richardson leads the way with 11 RBI.
 
Mikel Howell has a win in two starts with a 4.66 ERA, while Jeremy Adorno is 0-1 with a 5.91 ERA and a team-best 13 strikeouts.
