Baseball Travels to Newman for Midweek Matchup

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern baseball will step out of conference play for a midweek matchup when it travels to Wichita, Kan., for a 2 p.m. contest against Newman on Feb. 27.
 
The Savage Storm swept a three-game series over the Jets Feb. 6-7 at Mike Metheny Field, but will come into this matchup looking to snap a seven-game losing streak.
 
SE has put together a 6-8 record overall on the season while NU enters with a 2-14 mark overall and has dropped three in-a-row.
 
The Storm offense comes in hitting .281 as a team with 25 home runs, led by Nick Hill's .417 average with three homers and a team-high 14 RBI.
 
Amon Burroughs is next in line hitting .346 with a pair of homers and nine RBI, while Reid Rice checks in with a .3-09 average to go with three home runs and 10 RBI.
 
Wesley Mitchell, Yanluis Ortiz, and Coby Grimsley have each matched the team-high in homers with three, while Mitchell and Ortiz each have double-figure RBI totals.
 
Brett Tanksley started the team's last midweek outing, a one-run loss to Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla., and he has carried an 0-1 record with a 7.71 ERA over four appearances.
 
SE's bullpen is led by Brody Logsdon who is 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA across nine appearances, while Jared Barta has yet to be the pitcher of record in a contest while carrying a 2.45 ERA across seven appearances.
 
Newman's offense is led by Trent Trammel who is hitting .449 with five doubles, two triples, a homer, and 13 RBI, while Garrett Arnold, Eli Wohl, and Jason Schneider each have .300 or better averages.
 
Garrett Calderon got the last midweek start for the Jets, taking a no decision in an extra-inning win over Southwestern College and he carries an 0-1 record with a 9.90 ERA across five appearances with three starts.
 
Andrew Prieve leads the bullpen with a save and an 0-1 record with a 2.45 ERA.
