COLBY, Kan. – Souteastern's men return eight competitors to the finals over the weekend while the women sent eight of their own into the final round as the Savage Storm posted a solid showing at the Colby CC Rodeo in Colby, Kan.

The women would finish the weekend in third place as a team while the men, despite eight finalists would finish seventh as a group.
Â
That did little to dampen the regional competition however as after two competitions the women lead the Central plains regional team standings while the men rank second.

The Storm men sent a weekend best four to the finals of the bareback riding, led by Tyler Griffin who won the opening round with a ride of 74 and came back in the finals with an 80 to win the weekend, earning his second-straight event win in the bareback.

He was joined in the finals by
Grant Worthington,
Colton Matlock, and Braden Tyrer.

Worthington opened with a 66 and closed with an 83, winning the finals, and finishing second on the weekend behind Griffin.
Â
Matlock would post a fifth-place finish for the weekend after advancing in seventh on a 60-point ride before placing fifth in the finals with a 67.
Â
Tyrer would score a 64 in the opening round but an injury left him unable to ride in the finals.
Â
Griffin leads the regional standings in the bareback with his two wins, while Worthington is in third, Tyrer in fourth and Matlock is in six.

In the saddle bronc riding
Brett Coffman split fourth/fifth in the first round with a ride of 66 and followed it up with a 71 point ride in the finals which was good for sixth and lifted him to fourth in the average. The effort lifted him to eighth int h eregion standings.

Sid Harvey and his partner from Murray State Colton Thomason would win the long-go in the team roping with a time of 5.3 before turning around with a 6.5 in the finals to win that round and the average.

The Storm duo of
Levi James and
Garrett Hughes finished third in the qualifying round with a run of 7.5, but would take a no time in the finals and still finish sixth in the average.

Harvey is the top ranked heeler in the region after two outings while James and Hughes rank third in the region.

Rowdy Nimrod would push his way to the finals in the tie down roping with an 8.9 to win the opening round, but closed out the event with a 12.6 in the finals to finish seventh in the round and split fifth/sixth in the average.

Nimrod moves into eight in the region with the outing, while
Blake Carter holds the lead and
Jarvis Demrey is ranked seventh.

On the women's side, four riders would advance to the finals in the barrel racing, led by
Casey Mathis who clocked a 16.67 in the first round to finish third before coming back with a 16.70 in the finals, placing sixth in the round and moving to third in the average.

Emma Ricke was next in line, turning in a run of 16.81 in the first round to finish fourth and would match that placing in the finals with a 16.58, moving her to fourth overall for the weekend.

Jaiden Wilmoth snuck into the finals with a time of 17.12 to finish 12
th but would make up ground in the finals with a time of 16.35 to finish third in the round and move to fifth in the average.

Hannah Giger would use a 16.99 to make the finals after finishing seventh in the first round, but would hit a barrel in the finals which took her out of the average competition.
Â
Through two outings, Wilmoth currently sits third in the region in the barrel racing, followed by Ricke in fourth and Mathis in sixth.
Â
Giger would also reach the finals in the breakaway roping after winning the opening round with a time of 1.9, but would take a no time in the finals to fall out of thew average.

Kieley Walz would finish right behind her in the first round with a time of 2.2 to finish second but would also take a no time in the finals.
Â
Jillian Pressley currently ranks fourth in the breakaway in the region, while Giger is 11
th and Walz is 12
th.

Presley would led the way in the goat tying for the Storm, clocking an 8.1 in the first round to split eight/11
th before coming back with a 9.1 in the finals to finish seventh and close the event in eighth in the average.

Tegan Tilley would turn in an 8.1 in the first round to make the finals in seventh, but some struggles on her second run would clock her at 16.6 and take her out of the average.
Â
Southeastern will be back in action on Sept. 26-28 when it hosts its only home rodeo event of the season at the Durant Riding Club.
