DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State extends its win streak this season to six in row after picking up a home win over Central Oklahoma 5-2 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Â
The Storm took the early lead in doubles after
Jou Chen Chen and
Carol Mora turned in a 6-2 win at No. 1. The partnership continues to remain undefeated as they improved to 7-0 this season. SE clinched the doubles point at No. 3, as
Amishi Shukla and
Milana Voloshyn earned a 7-6 win to put the Storm up 1-0 in the match.
Â
SE carried the momentum over for a quick win at No. 5 by
Sara Gonzalez, 6-3 and 6-3, to extend the Storm's lead to 2-0. The Storm soon took a 3-1 advantage and were now one point away from clinching the match after
Larissa Giraldi Correa and
Carol Mora got wins at courts No. 3 and No. 1. Correa battled back and forth at No. 3 for a 3-6, 6-4 and 6-0 win and Mora swept her singles point at No. 1 6-4 and 6-3.
Â
Jou Chen Chen turned in the decisive score at No. 6 to clinch a match victory, 5-1. Chen Chen, like Giraldi Correa, needed a tiebreaker set to find the win and did just that after winning back-to-back sets after dropping the first one.
Â
Southeastern (6-0) is back in action again tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 1, against Dallas Baptist, starting at 2 p.m. from the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
