CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State men's golf program is sixth at the Derrall Foreman Invitational after 36 holes of play with a score of 8-over 584.
Arkansas Tech went low on day one, as they paced the nine-team field with a score of 18-under 558. Hosts Delta State slot in at second at the end of day one at even-par 576, and the No. 7 junior college Meridian CC are third with a score of 1-over 577. Rounding out the top five are Mississippi College (+2) in fourth and Trevecca Nazarene (+7) in fifth. SE currently sits one stroke back of the cracking the top five.
The Storm was led by
Jesse Tandoy in the first two rounds with a score of 1-under 143. The freshman turned in a 2-over 74 in the first round and improved his score in the second, shooting 3-under 69 with six birdies. On the day, Tandoy racked up 10 birdies, with four coming in the first round.
Jesse Rouse (T13) joins Tandoy in the top 15 with a 36-hole score of even-par 144. Rouse carded an even-par round and matched his score his second time through.
Trent Pollard started the event, shooting 1-over 73 in round with a 1-under front nine with three birdies and 2-over back half. Pollard followed up with a 2-over 74 second round to sit 3-over 147.
Christian Vining is tied for 34
th in his first tournament this spring after carding a 9-over 153 across the 36 holes. Vining saw his best round of the day in the second round, shooting 1-over 73 with five birdies.
Nicholas Martin checks in at 11-over 155 at the end of the first day. Martin turned in a 5-over 77 to start the tournament and shot 6-over 78 to wrap up the day. Southeastern will look to jump into the top five in the final round of the Derrall Foreman Invitational from the Par 72 Cleveland Country Club.
