DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma continues its home stand with a midweek meeting with rivals East Central in a Tuesday doubleheader, as SE continues with GAC action. First pitch between the Storm and Tigers is set for 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Softball Field.
SERIES NOTES
- After sweeping ECU last year, Southeastern leads the all-time series 83-31, having won 13 of the previous 14 contests. In 2024, the Savage Storm won the doubleheader in Ada, winning game one 7-5 and run-ruling the Tigers later that day 10-0. SE capped off the series with a 5-3 win at home, with Emily Simmons getting a win in the circle with eight strikeouts.
- The Storm holds a 19-11 home record in the last 30 games in Durant, though the Tigers are 1-1 in their most recent two trips south.
STORM WATCH
Southeastern made it four wins in a row in conference play this past weekend, sweeping Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Savage Storm took the doubleheader on Friday but had to wait till Sunday to complete sweep due to weather. SE outscored the Rangers 16-4 over the three games and out-hit the visitors 28-to-17.
Leading the Savage Storm lineup was
Iliana Olivares, who had a big weekend at the plate with six hits in 11 at-bats with four RBIs and a home run. The junior shined in game one of the series, going 3-of-4 with three runs batted in for her first multi-RBI game of the season. Olivares leads the team in hits with 27 and is batting .386 with 22 RBIs, six doubles and three home runs.
Sabetha Sands and
Sage Harlow also provided fireworks at the plate versus NWOSU, with four each and a combined five RBIs. Sands tallied her second home run of the season in the series finale and had two hits in each of the last two games, while Harlow tallied a hit in each contest, including a three-run home run in game two. Sands sits second on the team in hits (24) and leads the blue and gold with eight doubles.
Continuing a strong start to her freshman campaign,
Trinity Oden recorded 17 strikeouts over 10.0 innings against the Rangers. In game one, Oden threw all 7.0 frames and punched out 13 batters for a new season-high mark and followed with four more in the series finale. The Atlanta, Texas native leads the Storm in strikeouts (60) and carries a 3.50 ERA through 52.0 innings of work.
Emily Simmons has been the most featured arm this year, with a 6-4 record in 12 appearances.
PREVIEWING EAST CENTRAL
ECU heads into the midweek game 12-8 overall and 5-4 in GAC play after dropping a series to Oklahoma Baptist. The Tigers hosted the Bison over the weekend and opened the series with a win but lost the next two games. Like the Storm, East Central also picked up a sweep over NWOSU for its first GAC series win.
The Tigers bring in a strong batting lineup with four players hitting over .350 with 20 or more hits. Leading the charge for ECU is Elyse LeClair, who has 31 hits, including five doubles and a home run, for 18 RBIs and is batting .443. Amiah Galcatcher is the Tigers' biggest bat in the lineup, with six home runs, three doubles and 24 runs batted in on 19 hits. East Central has 190 hits this season and is hitting .331 as a team with 130 runs scored.
