Southeastern Blanks the Bearcats 4-0

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State improves to 8-3 on the year with a 4-0 win over the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist on Thursday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
SE held the advantage in the doubles round through Emilse Ruiz and Amishi Shukla, who got a 6-2 win at spot three, and the duo of Jou Chen Chen and Carol Mora followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point. Ruiz and Shukla moved to 7-0 as a partnership, while Chen Chen and Mora improved to 10-0 in dual matches and 12-0 overall.
 
Milana Voloshyn secured the first singles win for the Storm, winning at Court 2 in straight sets 6-2 and 6-2 to stretch the lead to 2-0. Not long after, Mora defeated SBU's Paula Ballesteros at No. 1 6-2 and 6-4 to make it 3-0, and Ruiz clinched the match 4-0 from No. 3 6-2 and 6-2. Ruiz remains unbeaten in singles matches with a record of 7-0, while Voloshyn and Mora improved to 7-3 and 8-2, respectively, this spring.
 
Southeastern (8-3) heads to Bartlesville, Okla., for a pair of matches on Mar. 16 and 17, beginning on Sunday with William Jewell at 2 p.m.
