BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State women's tennis program routs William Jewell on Sunday afternoon 7-0. The Savage Storm improves to 9-3 on the season.
The blue and gold held the lead at the end of the doubles round, as they secured the point with a win at spots one and two.
Carol Mora and
Jou Chen Chen picked up a win at No. 1, winning 6-2, while
Sara Gonzalez and
Tania Sfilio blanked their opponents with a 6-0 win at Court 2. The No. 25 pairing of Mora and Chen Chen moved to 11-0 this spring as a doubles partnership and are 13-0 overall.
Three wins in the singles round in quick succession quickly clinched the match win for the Storm 4-0.
Amishi Shukla won her match at No. 3 in straight sets with 6-2 and 6-0 set victories, while
Larissa Giraldi Correa won 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 2 to put SE ahead 3-0. Shukla and Correa's wins improve them to 5-3 and 6-3, respectively, this season in singles matches.
Milana Voloshyn secured the match point at Court 1 with 6-4 and 6-2 set victories and moves to 7-3 this season.
Rounding out SE's match wins,
Sofia Sachica took a 6-0 and 6-1 win from No. 5, while Sfilio took the match at No. 4 6-1 and 6-0. Southeastern (9-3) is back on the court on Monday from Bartlesville, as they take on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
