BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State women's tennis program picks up its third consecutive shutout win, taking down Oklahoma Wesleyan 7-0 for its tenth win of the season.
The Savage Storm won all three matches during doubles play to take a 1-0 lead over OWKU. At No. 1,
Jou Chen Chen and
Carol Mora won a back-and-forth contest with Oklahoma Wesleyan's top duo 7-5, while
Sara Gonzalez and
Tania Sfilio won 6-1 from Court 2. The partnership of
Amishi Shukla and
Emilse Ruiz rounded out the sweep with a victory at No. 3 6-0.
In the singles round,
Larissa Giraldi Correa put SE ahead 2-0 in the match with a 6-4 and 6-4 win at Court 2, and
Milana Voloshyn extended the lead to 3-0 at No. 1, winning in straight sets. Shukla provided the match-clinching point from spot three after taking the tiebreaker set 10-3. Southeastern added to its score at No. 4 through Chen Chen, who won her match 6-0 and 6-1, while Sfilio and
Sofia Sachica picked up victories at No. 5 and 6.
Southeastern (10-3) begins Great American Conference play for its next round of matches as they head to Natural State to take on Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State on March 30 and 31.
