Baseball Travels to Shawnee to Square Off With OBU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern jumps back into conference play as it travels to Shawnee, Okla., to take on in-state rival Oklahoma Baptist in a three-game series set to open Friday, March 28 at 6 p.m. at Bobby Cox Field followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 29 slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
 
The Savage Storm are looking to snap a seven-game losing streak that has dipped them to 10-20 overall on the season while the team is currently in seventh in the Great American Conference standings with an 8-10 record in league play.
 
The SE offense is paced by Wesley Mitchell who has lifted his average to .350 on the season and has hit safely in 21 of 28 games this season with 13 of those being multi-hit outings. He leads the team with seven doubles, nine home runs, and 30 RBI.
 
Chase Keeton is next in line with a .317 average and has seven homers and 20 RBI.
 
Ryan Kirk is second on the team in RBI with 23, while Kirk, Brady Evans, and Nick Mueller have three or more home runs apiece.
 
The Storm pitching staff is led by Daniel Collins who comes into the weekend with a 3.32 ERA across eight starts with a team-best 37 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .238 average. Collins has allowed more than two earned runs just once on the season.
 
Colton Clawson and Brock Zimmer have handled day two starting duties with Zimmer going 1-1 with a 5.76 ERA and 26 strikeouts while Clawson carried a 1-2 record and a 7.77 ERA.
 
Cody Pfeffer has made 10 appearances out of the bullpen and has racked up a 3-1 record with a 3.55 ERA.
 
OBU comes into the series with an 18-11 record on the season and a 10-8 mark in league play.
 
The Bison are led by DJ Van Atten who is hitting .376, while Lucas Schaefer paces the team with eight home runs and 36 RBI.
 
Bryant Thornton leads the OBU pitching staff with a 4-2 record and a 3.89 ERA, while David Stuart has four wins as well.
