Storm Collect Home Win Over McKendree 7-0

DURANT, Oka. – Southeastern Oklahoma State earns a 7-0 win over McKendree at the Southeastern Tennis Complex to improve to 7-1 on the year.
 
Southeastern carried a 1-0 lead into the singles round after capturing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The partnership of Larissa Giraldi Correa and Sara Gonzalez improved to 5-2 as a duo this spring with a quick 6-2 victory at No. 2. Emilse Ruiz and Amishi Shukla followed not long after with a 6-2 win at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point for the blue and gold.
 
Giraldi Correa carried the momentum from her doubles match into the singles round, defeating McKendree's Iva Poleksic at No. 2 to push the Storm ahead 2-0 in the match. SE's lead soon grew to 3-0 with a win at No. 3 by Ruiz, who improved to 5-0 this season, winning 6-0 and 6-3. Southeastern clinched the match win through Carol Mora, who took down MKU's Lena Greefs at Court 1 7-6 and 7-5 to secure a victory for the Storm 4-0.
 
The blue and gold added three more wins in the singles round, with Shukla, Jou Chen Chen and Tania Sfilio each picking up victories to cap off a 7-0 match win.
 
Southeastern (7-1)  hits the road for a pair of matches this weekend in the Lone Star state against Western New Mexico and No. 7 Lubbock Christian. SE faces WNMU first on Saturday at 2 p.m. before taking on LCU on Sunday at 10 a.m. from the Collin College Tennis Courts in Plano.
