SE Outlasted in Back-and-Forth Match to No. 39 SAU

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern suffers its first conference loss this season in a back-and-forth match to No. 39 Southern Arkansas 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Savage Storm were down in the doubles round after SAU secured a win at the No. 1 line, but SE delivered two victories at courts two and three to take the doubles point. Sara Gonzalez and Tania Sfilio evened the round 1-1 with a 6-2 win at No. 2, and Milana Voloshyn and Amishi Shukla soon followed, winning 6-4 at the No. 3 spot to give SE a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
The Muleriders tied the match at the start of the singles with a victory at court two and later took a 2-1 lead after a win at No. 3. Jou Chen Chen evened the match two-all, defeating SAU's Roskana Kokocha in three sets with a 6-0 set one win and a 6-2 victory in set three.
 
SE and SAU were back and forth all afternoon, but the match would swing in favor of the Muleriders, who won at the No. 6 line to clinch match point, 4-2. Southeastern (14-4, 3-1 GAC) returns to Durant on Friday, Apr. 25, for the final match of the regular season against Harding at 1 p.m.
