FORT SMITH, Ark. – Southeastern men's golf gets the GAC Tournament started, shooting 27-over 307 in ninth place on the first round of play at the Hardscrabble Country.
Leading the field after one round is Henderson State, who turned in a score of 1-over 281. Arkansas Tech follows closely with a score of 3-over 283, while No. 25 Harding (3
rd), Southern Arkansas (4
th) and Arkansas-Monticello (5
th) round out the top five. The Bison are 12-over Par for the day, and SAU and UAM are 13-over 293 and 16-over 296, respectively.
Nicholas Martin was out of the gates hot, recording birdies on his first three holes of the day to shoot 2-under par on the front nine before following up with a 3-over par back half. Martin is tied for seventh individually on the leaderboard with a round-one score of 1-over 71.
Trent Pollard and
Jesse Rouse matched each other's scores in round one, turning in a 7-over 77. Pollard tallied a pair of birdies back-to-back on holes 11 and 12, while Rouse notched a birdie on the Par 3 Hole 8. Both players are tied for 31
st on the player leaderboard.
Also tied on the leaderboard,
Tristun Burnham and
Jesse Tandoy shot 12-over 82 on the first day of the conference tournament for a tie in 42
nd place. Southeastern continues with play at the Par 70 Hardscrabble Country Club with round two tomorrow.
