Baseball Squares Off with UAM in Weekend Series

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern continues its battle for a postseason berth when it sets out on its final trip to Arkansas to take on Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game series in Monticello, Ark., with game one set for 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11, and the final two games slated for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
 
The Savage Storm will look to recapture its momentum as it recently had a five-game winning streak snapped and has lost three in a row, dropping its overall record to 15-24 with an 11-13 mark in Great American Conference play.
 
SE is currently tied for eighth with Oklahoma Baptist, while just three games separate fourth-through-ninth place in the standings with nine games to play on the conference slate.
 
Wesley Mitchell continued to push his average up for the season and is now hitting .388 which ranks second in the GAC while leading the league in home runs with 14 and ranking third in RBI with 42.
 
Chase Keeton lifted his average to .339 after going 11-for-21 over his last six games and has connected on nine home runs on the year with 27 RBI.
 
Alex Showalter is hitting .313 on the season, while Brady Evans lifted his home run total to eight on the year, while Ryan Kirk is second on the team in RBI with 28.
 
Daniel Collins leads the Storm starters on the mound with a 4.66 ERA across 10 starts with 43 strikeouts.
 
Cody Pfeffer has picked up three wins over 14 relief appearances with a 4.88 ERA and 33 strikeouts.
   
UAM comes into the weekend with a 22-16 record overall on the year and a 14-10 mark in conference play.
 
The Boll Weevils are led on offense by Chaz Poppy who is hitting .378, while Justin Santoyo carries a team-high 39 RBI.
 
Santoyo and Chase Cripps are tied for the team lead in homers with six apiece.
 
The UAM pitching staff is paced by Maxim Mrakovcic with a 6-2 record and a 3.10 ERA, while Connor Irvine is 5-3 with a 3.70 ERA and a team-best 45 strikeouts.
