Southeastern Gears Up for Home Series Against UAM Friday and Saturday

DURANT, Okla. – After spending a week on the road last time out, Southeastern returns home on April 11 and 12th to host Arkansas-Monticello at the Southeastern Softball Field.

SE and UAM open the series with a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 1 p.m., before concluding the series with a single game on Saturday at noon.
 
SERIES NOTES
  • The series has favored the home team as of late, with SE winning five of the last six games played in Durant versus a 2-6 record in Monticello. Last season, UAM bested the Storm in two of three games, but the blue and gold got revenge in the GAC Tournament, defeating the Blossoms 9-4.
  • Southeastern leads the series against UAM 31-18, dating back to the first meeting in 2002.
 
STORM WATCH
Southeastern (21-21, 12-11 GAC) picked up its fourth conference series win over the weekend, as the Storm took 2-of-3 from Southwestern Oklahoma State. SE only needed five innings in game one to get the win, using 15 hits to get a 12-3 victory, which was followed by a 6-3 win in the second contest of the series.
 
With three weekend series remaining in the season, SE is sixth in the standings with its 12-11 GAC mark. Just ahead of the Storm in fifth is Arkansas Tech, with a one-game advantage over the blue and gold at 13-11, while the blue and gold hold a three-game lead over seventh-place UAM. Southern Arkansas is the only team so far to clinch a spot in the 2025 GAC Tournament.
 
Sage Harlow had a big week at the plate, recording nine hits against SWOSU to finish with 13 knocks across five games. The graduate student from Whitewright, Texas, has totaled three hits in each of her last four games, which has seen her batting average jump from .297 to .351. Additionally, Harlow racked up five doubles for the week, including two in the SWOSU series, to reach 11 on the year.
 
Iliana Olivares extended her hit streak to seven games after going 5-of-10 at the plate against the Bulldogs and recording three doubles and three RBIs. Olivares is tied for first in the GAC in doubles with 14 and leads the Storm with 51 hits and a .375 batting average. The Dallas native is one of three players with 20 RBIs this season (25), while India McMurray and Harlow have 28 and 24, respectively.
 
PREVIEWING ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO
Arkansas-Monticello heads into the weekend with a 15-22 record and a 9-14 GAC mark following a series loss to Ouachita Baptist on the road. The Blossom dropped the first two games of the series but went on to win the finale 9-8. UAM's lone series win this season came at home in a sweep against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
The Blossoms' lineup is led by Aubree Goodnight at the plate, with 30 hits on a .323 batting average. Jadyn Hart is UAM's biggest bat, with eight doubles, a triple and two home runs for 19 RBIs and 28 total hits while slugging .411. The Blossoms' pitching is led by a committee, with Kayla Oltehouse making the most appearances this season (22) and has a 3.95 ERA in 51.1 innings of work.
