TULSA, Okla. – Southeastern men's golf ends the first day of play at the NSU Men's Golf Classic in 16
th place with a 36-hole score of 18-over 586. The blue and gold shot 4-over Par as a team in round one and later turned in a combined score of 14-over 298 in the second round.
Central Oklahoma shot low on day one and leads the 20-team field with a score of 18-under 550. Just four strokes separate the remaining top five teams, with Central Missouri at 15-under 553 in second and Pittsburg State in third with a score of 14-under 554. Arkansas Tech follows at 12-under 556, and rounding out the top five, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Southern Arkansas are tied at 11-under 557.
In his first collegiate tournament as a member of the Storm,
Talan Haley led the lineup with a low round of 1-under 14. On the day, Haley's best round came on the first 18 holes, when he shot 3-under 68 with four birdies and an eagle. The freshman followed with a 2-over 73 in the second round to complete the first 36 holes 1-under Par.
Tristun Burnham totaled seven birdies for the day on his way to a 3-over 145. Burnham began the first round of play with a 2-over 73 and followed with a 1-over 72 his second time through the course.
Nicholas Martin and
Dilyn Hart matched each other over the two rounds, carding a 9-over 151. Martin shot 1-over 72 on the first 18 holes and later turned in an 8-over 79, while Hart carded a 6-over Par round one score and a 3-over 74 in the second.
Rounding out the opening two rounds at the NSU Men's Classic,
Austin Skierski completed his first collegiate action 14-over 156. Skierski saw his best round on the first 18 holes of the day, shooting 4-over 75, and followed with a 10-over Par round two. Southeastern will complete the final round of play tomorrow from the Par 71 Page Belcher Golf Course.
