COLBY, Kan. – Southeastern rodeo opened the 2025-26 season in Colby, Kan., where the men turned in a second-place team finish while the women closed the weekend out in fifth at the Colby CC Rodeo.

Waylon Buquoi and
Justin Ochs led the way on the men's side in the bull riding and team roping, respectively.
Â
Buquoi kicked off his weekend with a 76 on his first rider which placed him third heading to the finals.
Â
Once there he dropped an 80-point ride which was good for second place in the round and in the average for the weekend.
Â
Ochs partnered with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M's Treyden Larman in the team roping where the pair opened competition with a 7.6 in the long-go which was good for third place.
Â
In the finals the duo clocked an 8.2 which ranked second in the round and moved them up to second in the average.
Â
Back in the bull riding, Caden bunch turned in a 76 in the first round as well to take second place in the qualifying round before departing the bull short of the eight-second horn on his finals ride, leaving him third overall for the weekend.

In the bareback riding,
Colton Matlock turned in a second-place finish in the first round on a ride of 67.
Â
He followed up with a 75 in the finals which was also good for second place and left him second in the average.

Rowdy Nimrod came out in the steer wrestling and turned in a 6.0 in his first run to split 5
th/6
th before a broken barrier penalty took him out of the mix in the finals.

On the women's side,
Jillian Presley reached the finals in all three events, with her best overall finish coming in the breakaway where she put together runs of 2.3 and 3.7 to turn in a fourth-place average finish for the weekend.

Baylee Lester also reached the finals in the breakaway with a first rope of 2.8 which split 8
th-10
th, but missed on her finals ride to drop out to the average.

Presley was one of three finals qualifiers in the goat tying, putting together an 8.1 and an 8.6 to finish seventh in the average.

Lauren Weller led the Storm in the goat tying with a first round time of 7.9 before finishing with an 8.1 in the finals which was good for 2
nd/3
rd in the round and moved her to second in the average for the weekend.

Emma Ricke reached the finals on a first round run of 8.0 to split 7
th/8
th, but fell on her dismount in the finals and dropped out of the average.

Presley reached the finals of the barrel racing after clocking a first run of 16.65 to plait 5
th/6
th before coming back with a 17.00 in the finals for a seventh-place average finish.
Â
Laney Hoffman followed with a 16.80 in the first round to reach the finals where she clocked a 16.88 and finished the weekend in ninth place.

Ricke also reached the finals in the barrel racing, her second finals trip of the weekend, posting a time of 16.76 in the first round but would clip a barrel in her finals run which took her out of the average.
