WEST POINT, Miss. – Through 36 holes of play at the Samuel T. Dunning Invitational, the Southeastern men's golf team is 14
th with a score of 50-over 626. The Savage Storm turned in a 35-over 323 in round one and improved later in the day with a 15-over 303 second round.
Leading the field of play, Lee turned in the only score under par, shooting 21-under 555. In second, Lee's second team shot 4-over par and is followed by UT Dallas (+14), while Trevecca State and Delta State are tied for fourth at 17-over 593.
The Southeastern lineup is led by
Nicholas Martin, who shot 7-over 151 through 36 holes of play. Martin began the day with an opening round score of 4-over 76 with a trio of birdies and later shot 3-over 75 with two birdies and an eagle on the back nine.
Talan Haley had the next best score for the Storm, carding a 13-over 157, following rounds of 9-over 81 and 4-over 76.
Dilyn Hart scattered rounds of 7-over 79 and 8-over 80 to complete the first day 15-over 159. Hart tallied four birdies across the 36 holes of play, including three on his second time through the 18 holes.
Austin Skierski is 18-over 162 through two rounds after turning in a 16-over 88 and later would improve with a 2-over 74 with a near flawless front nine.
Rounding out the SE five-bag,
Tristun Burnham saw his best round of play in the second, where he shot 6-over 78. Burnham turned in a 15-over 87 in the first round for a combined score of 21-over 165. Southeastern wraps up play tomorrow from the Par 72 Mossy Oak Golf Club, as the Storm look to move up the leaderboard.
