Storm Bested by Lady Statesmen 4-2 in Dallas

DALLAS– The Southeastern women's tennis program falls in its first round of matches in Dallas at the hands of Delta State, 4-2.
 
The Savage Storm dominated the doubles round to take a 1-0 lead in the match after sweeping all three matches. The duo of Sophia Brooks-Gay and Amishi Shukla set the tone early with a 6-1 win at line two, and were followed by a 6-3 win at Court 2 from Emilia O'Neill and Lilly Shepard. Kseniya Zhdanok and Milana Voloshyn capped off the strong start with a 6-4 win at spot one.
 
The Lady Statesmen offset the blue and gold's strong performance in the doubles round, taking the first two singles matches in straight sets to take a 2-1 lead. SE evened the match from line two through Emilia O'Neill, who earned a 7-5 and 6-3 set win to defeat Trinity Ly.

However, DSU added two more wins on Courts 5 and 6 to clinch a 4-2 match win. Southeastern (0-2) will play two more matches down in Dallas on Friday, Feb. 13, starting at 9 a.m. against Western New Mexico, followed by Texas-Permian Basin at 1 p.m.
