SE Baseball Set for Edmond First Pitch Classic

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern is set to return to the diamond this weekend as it faces four games over three days at the Edmond First Pitch Classic hosted by Central Oklahoma Feb. 6-8 in Edmond, Okla.
 
The Savage Storm open play for the weekend with a 10 a.m. matchup against Pittsburg State on Friday morning, followed by a 1 p.m. contest with host UCO.
 
SE returns to action on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. to face Emporia State and closes the weekend on Feb. 8 with a rematch versus PSU at 10 a.m.
 
Southeastern picked up a 9-8 win over Northeastern State in the season opener on Tuesday to open the year 1-0.
 
Payton Poole, Alex Showalter, and Carter Olson each logged a pair of hits, with Olson cashing in his for a double and a grand slam to finish with five RBI.
 
Jax Heid, Easton Ford, Isaac Villa, Ryan Kirk, and Jacob Ambriz each recorded a hit, with Kirk driving in a pair of runs.
 
On the hill, Estevan Fonseca picked up the first win with 4.0 innings in relief, scattering two hits and striking out seven.
 
The Gorillas enter Friday's matchup with a 4-0 record after sweeping Southern Arkansas to open the year and picking up a Thursday afternoon win over Missouri-St. Louis.
 
Eric Bacon paces the PSU offense with a ,579 average and 11 RBI, while Zach Voss logged a win in his first start, allowing a run and striking out four in four innings.
 
The Bronchos enter the weekend with a 1-0 record after an 8-7 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday.
 
UCO was paced in its opener by Elijah Alexander who logged a pair of hits and Carson Taylor who drove in three runs, while Kamden Thompson recorded the Tuesday win.
 
The Hornets enter the weekend with a 5-0 record with wins over Adams State, Minot State, and East Central.
 
ESU is led by Dylan Brisbois who is hitting .533 with seven RBI, while Seth Stover has logged a win in two starts with a 5.00 ERA and six strikeouts.
