RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the first time this season,
India McMurray is named the Great American Conference Player of the Week after leading the Savage Storm at the plate during the Alvy Early Memorial Classic.
McMurray was red-hot at the plate during the weekend, batting .600 with nine hits in 15 at-bats. The senior from Dallas blasted four home runs over the five games and finished with eight runs driven in and five runs scored. In Southeastern's two wins, the Duncanville High School product combined for four RBIs, three runs scored and five hits, including a perfect game at the plate against Washburn, going 3-3.
Through 10 games, McMurray leads the GAC in home runs with six and is second in total bases with 31. The senior utility player ranks third on the team with a .419 batting average, having tallied 13 hits in 31 plate appearances, and leads the Storm with six walks. McMurray has recorded a multi-hit game in six games this season, including a season-best three hits in the win against Washburn this past weekend.
Southeastern (4-6) heads to Tahlequah, Okla., for its next round of games at the Cherokee Nation D2 Festival on Feb. 14-15.
