Southeastern opens Home Schedule with SNU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the 2012 home schedule on Sept. 11 when it hosts new Great American Conference foe Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
 
The Savage Storm come into the contest with a 1-7 record after finishing a 1-3 weekend at the Tarleton State Classic.
 
SE picked up its first win of the year and snapped a five-match, losing streak with a 3-2 win over Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday of the event.
 
The Storm are 3-7 all-time against SNU, but Tuesday's matchup will be the first since both teams have made the move to NCAA Division II.
 
Emily Gentle and Megan Kunkel have led the offensive charge for Southeastern.
 
Gentle is averaging 3.67 kills per set and was named to the TSU Classic all-tournament team after averaging 4.00 kills per set over the weekend.
 
Kunkel is not far behind, averaging 3.00 kps.
 
Madelynne Cera is dishing out 6.70 assists per set, but is also chipping in with the third most kills on the squad with 1.15 kps and the second-most digs at 2.70 digs per set.
 
Taylor Benner leads the back row defense with 4.30 digs per set, while four others average better than 2.00 dps.
 
Natasha Smith has already racked up 21 blocks and is averaging 0.81 blocks per set, including eight solos.
 
The Crimson Storm enter the contest at 1-4 on the year after picking up a 3-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God in its last outing.
 
Prior to that match, they had dropped the first four matches of the year.
