Southeastern returns to Paul Laird Field for Homecoming weekend to host nationally-ranked Ouachita Baptist at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The Savage Storm come into the contest at 1-2 on the season following a 56-20 road-loss to No. 24 Henderson State, while the Tigers enter the weekend off a 31-24 victory over Arkansas Tech.

Against the Tigers… Saturday marks the 49th meeting all-time between Southeastern and Ouachita Baptist.  The rivalry with OBU is the longest running rivalry with a school from the state of Arkansas.  The series got its start in 1913 when the teams played to a 0-0 tie that would be followed by eight-straight wins by OBU which still stands as the longest streak for eaither team in the series.  SE's firs win came in 1954 by a score of 38-34, while the longest SE winning streak in the series is six between 1988 and 1993.  OBU has won the last two meetings, both by just three points.

Southeastern celebrates 100th season of football… The 2012 season will mark the 100th season of competition for SE football which fielded its first team in 1909.  Southeastern has fielded a team every year since then except for the span between 1943 and 1945 during World War II.  SE has played 946 games over that span, posting a 452-450-44 record.

Notes from last time out… SE dropped its second-straight contest and dipped to 1-2 on the season and 0-2 in GAC play... the 56 points allowed is the most an SE defense has given up since a 63-12 loss to D-I foe Northwestern State (La.) during the 2008 season... SE dominated the offensive yardage numbers, out-rushing and out-passing HSU and posting 573 total yards to HSU's 348... SE ran more than twice as many offensive plays as HSU (106-45) and held the ball for 43:05 in time of possession... Jercolby Bradley threw for 211 yards on 24-of-35 passing and added 94 yards rushing with a pair of TD's... SE had three rushers post 50-or-more yards.

About the Coaches… Ray Richards (Northern Michigan, 1981) took over the reins for the Southeastern Oklahoma State football program prior to the 2005 season and quickly built on to SE's successful history.  Richards has compiled a 36-37 record at SE and an overall career record of 50-67, with head coaching stints at Southeastern and Southwest Baptist University.  The 2011 squad opened the year with back-to-back wins before going to a 2-8 season and a ninth place finish in the first season of Great American Conference play.  SE had three all conference award winners, highlighted by first team selection Ryan Shelley who turned in the league's best single-game receiving mark with 225 yards against East Central.  In seven seasons at SE, Richards' teams have produced 25 first team all-conference honors as well as 37 all-conference second team honors.  His teams also won eight specialty awards in the LSC, including his own Coach of the Year nod following the 2005 season.
Todd Knight leads the Ouachita football program into its third conference affiliation since joining division II in the late 90's. Entering his 14th season as head coach at OBU, Knight is one of the longest standing college head football coaches in the state of Arkansas.  Knight's development at head coach has come under solid leadership, playing under coach Buddy Benson at Ouachita and later coaching under Red Parker and Don Skelton at Delta State from 1986-1989 and David Lee at the University of Texas at El Paso from 1990-1992. When he returned to Delta State as head coach from 1993-1998, he led the team to its first ever GSC Championship in 1998, also earning GSC Coach of the Year honors that year.
