Â
The loss is the fourth-straight in the series for the Storm and gives ECU a 46-45-6 advantage in the 97 year history of the rivalry.
Â

Â

Â
The offense also broke the 1985 mark for passing attempts that was 468 by attempting 511 passes in 2013, while the 1985 completions mark of 258 was also passed this year with 289 completions.
Â
Southeastern's offense also had a trio of players reach records or milestones on the season.
Â
Nick Sioson was 28-of-52 for 253 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's contest, setting three school records in the process, all held by Troy Taylor and set in the 1985 season. He snapped the old plays in a season mark of 509 by participating in 567 plays. He also set new marks in completions and attempts, with his 280 completions besting Taylor's mark of 253 and his 493 attempts passing the old record of 453.
Â
He also finished the year with 2,958 yards passing which places him second on the all-time single season yardage list, passing Drew Beard's 2,945 yards put up in 2004.
Â
Kaymon Farmer also posted a new school record by hauling in eight catches for 69 yards against ECU and bringing his season receptions total to 77 which passes Henry Hill's record of 74 catches set in 1985.
Â
At one point during the contest Farmer and
Anthony Foster had both broken the record and were tied with 75 receptions.
Â
Foster would finish the day with five catches for 60 yards and a score, leaving him at 75 catches for the year, but he does become just SE's fourth 1,000-yard receiver and finishes with the third-best season in school history with 1,036 yards.
Â
Not to be outdone,
Devlon Wortham turned in 138 yards on the ground on 25 carries with a touchdown. It was his fifth game on the year with more than 100 yards rushing and he will be the eighth player to post a 1,000-yard rushing season, finishing the year with 1,119 yards which ties Scott Martin for the third-best single season rushing yardage total.
Â
The 2013 season was the first time in school history that Southeastern has had a 2,000 yard passer, a 1,000 yard receiver and a 1,000 yard rusher in the same year.
Â
The defense against ECU was led by
Derek Ogg who turned in 16 tackles in the contest, a season-high mark by any SE player, with 2.5 tackles for a loss.
Â
Raheem Wilson picked up his fourth interception of the year, while
Kevin Jones-Dickerson picked up the team's second punt block of the season.
Â
SE jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter with a season-long 43 yard field goal off the foot of
Chris Peoples with 12:26 to play in the first and then a 44 yard Sioson to Foster TD toss with 6:43 to play in the quarter.
Â
The Tigers would answer with a Spencer Bond to Caleb Holley nine yard TD pass at the 10:24 mark of the second quarter, followed by a Trevor Hunt 28 yard field goal with 5:29 to play in the half.
Â
The teams would go to the locker room at the break knotted at 9-9.
Â
However, ECU would continue its momentum out of the break, scoring twice in the third quarter with Lindsey Anderson returning a fumble 36 yards for a score at the 13:27 mark and Bond picking up another TD on a one-yard keeper with 7:06 remaining to put the Storm in a 23-9 hole.
Â
Wortham would help SE start to dig out of it with a 10 yard touchdown run with 7:03 to play in the game to cut the deficit to 23-16.
Â
The Stor would get the ball one last time with 1:56 to play and march the ball down the field, thanks in large part to a 30 yard pass to
Kaymon Farmer to convert third-and-14 followed by a pass to Wortham that picked up 22 yards to the ECU four yad line.
Â
A false start penalty would back the ball up to the nine yard line where SE would see four-straight pass attempts miss the mark, ensuring the 23-26 loss.
