SE Baseball Back in Action Tuesday

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will set out to get back in the win column on Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Northwood at 2 p.m. at The Ballpark in Durant.

The Savage Storm come into the contest at 3-4 on the young season after back-to-back losses to end its three-game series with Henderson State.

SE will be hoping to find the mix that worked the first time around as the Storm opened the season with a 5-3 win in Dallas.

That outing saw Southeastern put together a four-run seventh inning to jump in front for good.

Mark Frank drove in a pair of runs, while Ryan Salter and Vance Woodruff each added an RBI in the victory.

Brandon Marris got the start and threw 4.0 innings before handing the ball to Eddie Cervantes who tossed 3.0 innings and registered the win.  Marris allowed a run on two hits with three strikeouts, while Cervantes allowed a pair of runs, one earned, with three K's.

Levi Lewis picked up the save after tossing the final 2.0 innings and striking out three without allowing a hit.

For the year, Salter paces the club on offense with a .345 average while scoring six runs and adding eight stolen bases.

Chevis Springer and Even Ramsey are each hitting over .300.

Springer, Ramsey and Woodruff have each knocked in five runs to lead the team.

On the mound, Levi Lewis has seen the most action with five relief appearances, compiling a 1-1 record with a save and a 2.00 ERA in 9.0 innings of work.

Marris and Woodruff lead the starter with matching 3.60 ERA's, although have not gotten the wins to go with them as Marris has yet to record a decision and Woodruff is off to an 0-2 start.

Marris and Woodruff have 13 and 12 strikeouts, respectively, while Marris leads the team with 15.0 innings pitched and Woodruff has tossed 10.0, all in starts.
