Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern put up six runs in the top of the ninth inning, but saw its rally fall one run shy in the series finale in a 12-11 loss at Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla., on Saturday.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 12-13 overall on the year and 6-9 in Great American Conference play heading into an out-of-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon against McMurry in a double-header slated for a 1 p.m. start at The Ballpark In Durant.

SE piled up 15 hits in the contest, led by a 4-for-5 outing by
Trevor Bowen, while
Jacob Carter,
Ryan Salter and
Cody Coats each put up two hits.

Coats had a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in seven runs on the contest, while Bowen added two RBI and Carter and Salter each added one.

Jaime Paxton got the start and was saddled with the loss after tossing 1.2 innings and allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits with three strikeouts.

Dwight Camp came on and threw 6.1 innings in relief and allowed seven runs, six of which were earned, on six hits with four strikeouts.

SNU jumped out to a 5-0 lead with a five-run second inning, but Coats answered with his first homer of the day, a two-run shot, in the top of the third to make the score 5-2.

The Crimson Storm added a run in the bottom of the third, followed by a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to open an 8-2 lead.

Bowen singled home
Jacob Soisson in the seventh and Coats added a sac fly that scored Salter to cut the deficit to 8-4.

Bowen would then drive in Carter in the top of the eighth, but SNU answered with four runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 12-5 lead to the final inning.

The Storm were not finished, however, as
Evan Ramsey singled and
Collin Sefcik was hit by a pitch to open the inning.

Ramsey then scored on a Carter single to make the score 12-6.
Â
After a pair of fly outs, the two out rally picked up with a Salter single that scored Sefcik and inched the Storm closer at 12-7.

Bowen followed with a single to load the bases and was followed by Coats who turned in his second home run of the day to clear the bases and close the gap to 12-11.

However, that was where the rally would end as the Storm dropped the final game of the series, but did take two-of-three games from SNU.
