DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will look to stretch its winning streak to three games and get its second straight homecoming victory when it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State at Paul Laird Field on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
The Savage Storm enter the weekend with a 2-2 record overall and in conference play after a dominating performance in a 41-7 win over Southern Nazarene a week ago.
The Bulldogs on the other hand also enter the game at 2-2 overall and in league games, but are coming off a 33-0 loss at the hands of Henderson State.
SE will be aiming to build on its school-record 421 yard rushing performance form its last contest, and effort led by
Ronnie Greens 143 yards on 10 carries.
As a team the Storm are averaging 198.0 yards per game on the ground, with Green averaging 79.8 yards per game with four scores.
Ryan Polite added a pair of rushing TD's in the win over SNU and on the season has averaged 286.8 yards per game passing while completing 62.2 percent of his passes for 1,147 yards with six touchdowns.
His most frequent target is
Kaymon Farmer who leads the league in catches with 27 over four games, while
Franky Okafor has 20 grabs on the year for 321 yards and four touchdowns.
Raheem Wilson paces the defense with 18 tackles and has added three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.
Nicholas Sierra and
Kevin Jones are right behind with 17 stops each, while Sierra has added a team-best 4.0 tackles for loss and two sacks.
SWOSU comes to town averaging 396.8 yards per game in total offense, with 263.2 of that coming through the air.
Marc Evans triggers the offense by completing 59.9 percent of his passes for 1,053 yards and 10 scores.
DJ Jones has been his most productive target with 268 yards on 15 catches with three touchdowns.
Karltrell Henderson leads the rushing attack with 320 yards on 75 carries with four TD's.
Conner Bays leads the SWOSU defense with 46 tackles, while five different players have recorded an interception.
Southeastern leads the all-time series between the two programs 44-36-3 and with Saturday marking the 84
th meeting between the two schools on the gridiron it makes this SE's second-longest still-running rivalry behind the 98 meetings of the SE-East Central rivalry.
